Private bank deposits fell in October

Greece’s private sector bank deposits fell in October after six straight months of gains, central bank data showed on Monday.

Business and household bank deposits fell from €185.51 billion in September to €184.84 billion at the end of October, according to Bank of Greece data.

Greek bank deposit inflows had increased since the beginning of 2021 as lockdowns to stem the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic hit consumer spending.

Greece’s economy expanded at a slower pace from April to June than in the first quarter, slowing annual growth. [Reuters]
