Riyadh — Minister of Human Resources and Social Development Engineering. Ahmed Al-Rajhi has made a decision to approve working conditions for the Kingdom’s guards.
According to the terms of the contract issued by the Minister, guards cannot work five hours in a row without a break, prayer or mealtime, provided that each break is no longer than 30 minutes.
They are also required to provide uniforms for security guards within the facility and must comply with what is stated in the Occupational Health and Safety Procedures Manual to prevent the effects of exposure to sunlight and heat stress. .
The new terms and conditions apply to establishments and businesses that directly or indirectly employ security guards in the private sector. These regulations are also compulsory for businesses that employ private civil guards and those that employ guards directly.
A statement issued on Wednesday by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development said the working conditions of security guards are divided into three categories: the first is the internal environment, such as inside commercial establishments such as banks. , the external environment, which is outside the building exposed to unstable climatic conditions, and the third, remote areas where facilities are under construction, far from urbanization.
The terms and conditions also stipulate the set of physical amenities that the facility owner must provide, which may vary from facility to facility depending on the security guard’s working environment.
The Minister’s decision aims to improve the quality of work in the guard sector, increase the productivity of its employees, increase the attractiveness of the sector and contribute to the stability of workers in the work of guards.
The ministry has required the private sector concerned to comply with these regulations within a period not exceeding 180 days from the date of publication of this decision through the ministry’s website. The ministry also stressed that it will take all necessary measures to ensure compliance with its implementation and impose penalties on companies that violate the ministry’s regulations.
