Prosecutors want custody of three people in a public transport scandal

The Prague High Public Prosecutor’s Office has proposed detaining three of the 11 people charged with corruption in cases related to mismanagement of the Prague Transport Company. According to the prosecution, there is a risk that the defendant will escape or affect witnesses and co-defendants who have not yet been cross-examined. Former deputy mayor of Prague, Petr Hlubuček, and Prague businessman Michal Redl, were reportedly involved in the case, both of which were closely related to the vice-chairman of the coalition STAN party, Petr Gazdik. Hlubuček resigned from all party positions and withdrew his candidacy in the fall local elections.
