Qatar introduces new passenger tax at airport-Doha News

The new mandatory passenger fare will take effect from April 1st and includes taxes on security and air cargo infrastructure.

Official notice to all airline managers and travel agencies on Monday Circular No. (2) has been sent. This includes modifying current charges and introducing new security and air cargo infrastructure charges at Katari Airport.

The new tax will be applied to all tickets issued after February 1, 2022, the Circular has been stated and will be officially enforced from 12:00 am on April 1, 2022.

The price includes the following four additions:

60QAR per passenger: Airport development charges for all departing passengers, including up to 24 hours transit.

60QAR per passenger: Passenger facility rates for all departing passengers, including up to 24 hours transit.

10 QAR per passenger: Passenger safety and security charges for all departing passengers, including up to 24 hours transit.

Infants under the age of two, passengers traveling on the same plane, crew members on duty, and forced flight redirects for “just cause” are exempt.

10QAR per metric ton: Freight transportation in all inbound and in transit, including postage.

Cargo remaining on the same aircraft will be exempt from additional charges, officials said.
