Qatar to open embassy in Czech Republic – Middle East monitor

Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani said yesterday in a joint press conference with Czech President Milos Zeman that Qatar will open an embassy in the Czech Republic in the coming months.

The Czech Republic opened an embassy in Doha earlier this year.

Al Thani, who is on an official visit to Prague, said he was looking forward to Zeman’s visit to Doha as he prepares for the start of the FIFA World Cup next month.

He added that he had discussed the development of mutual economic relations with his Czech counterpart.

Al Thani reiterated Qatar’s clear position to resolve all disputes through dialogue and diplomacy.

Al Thani is currently on an official visit to Prague and is meeting not only Czech leaders but also several other European representatives against the backdrop of the European summit in the Czech capital.

“As far as economic matters are concerned, today we have signed an agreement on economic cooperation, as well as a pledge to sign after the agreement on investment protection has been ratified by the European Commission,” Zemen said.
