Qatar’s national team will participate in the World Cup for the first time this year.
Qatari midfielder Abdullah Al Aflaq remains devastated after a cruciate ligament injury ruled him out of his first ever World Cup.
In a tweet on Monday, the Qatar Football Association shared the unfortunate news of the midfielder, saying Al Aflaq will be out for nine months.
In light of the news, the 25-year-old commented on his injury by tweeting, “God willing.”
Al Ahrak is considered one of Team Qatar’s leading attacking midfielders.
Al Ahrak’s will miss international events, but will also miss the local scene as he will miss the 2023/2024 QNB Stars League season with his club Al-Duhail.
With less than 100 days to go until the opening game against Ecuador at Arbeit Stadium on 20 November, Team Qatar’s roster remains healthy and we hope it continues to do so.
Ecuador’s coach Gustavo Alfaro said his side’s first match against Qatar would be approached like a final because it would be a privilege for his side to play in the opening match of the FIFA World Cup.
Qatar will host the world’s largest football tournament in the Middle East for the first time.
