Rapid PCR test discarded for passengers from several countries including Pakistan, India

According to UAE airlines, passengers arriving in the UAE from India, Pakistan and some countries must take the PCR test within 48 hours of departure.

The previous instruction to run an additional fast PCR test at the airport 6 hours before departure has been abolished.

Dubai airline Emirates has updated the emirate’s entry requirements for passengers from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Kenya, Egypt and several other countries.

“All passengers from these designated countries with Dubai as their final destination will receive a negative Covid-19 PCR test certificate containing the QR code of the test conducted at the approved facility within 48 hours of departure. The validity must be calculated from the time the sample is collected, “the airline said on its website.

The certificate must be a reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT PCR) test issued by an accredited laboratory using a QR code linked to the original report for verification purposes. Emirates added that UAE citizens, first-degree relatives, domestic workers, children under the age of 12, and passengers with moderate or severe disabilities are exempt from PCR testing.

Meanwhile, Sharjah-based Air Arabia also states that passengers no longer need to perform rapid PCR tests at the departure airport.
