The Czech Telecommunications Bureau (ČTÚ) has made a proposal to regulate the Czech mobile phone market, news site Lupa.cz reported on Monday. A new proposal, taking into account the recommendations from the European Commission, has been published on the ČTÚ website.
In that analysis, regulators claim that retailers’ mobile service prices are disproportionately higher than the EU average, especially when it comes to mobile data.
The previous regulatory proposal made by ČTÚ was rejected by the European Commission and the Czech Republic’s Bureau of Competition and Protection.
The Czech mobile operator market currently consists of three major providers: O2, T-Mobile and Vodafone. According to the Czech news agency, the fourth operator may enter the market at the end of 2024.
