MOSCOW (Sputnik) – State trials of Russia’s new Malva self-propelled howitzer armed with a 152 mm weapon are expected to be completed by the end of this year, the developer told Sputnik.
“In 2021, as part of the chief designer’s tests, the effectiveness of the self-propelled howitzer created and its compliance with the requirements of the tactical and technical quotas were confirmed. The submitted Ministry of Defense will be completed at the end of 2022, ”said a spokesperson for the Uralbagonzavod company.
A spokesperson told Sputnik that production of a pilot batch of Marva has already begun, alongside testing.
A new truck-mounted artillery system was developed by the Burevestnik Central Research Institute, part of the Russian Uralvagonzavod company. The artillery unit is based on a wheeled chassis, and according to the developer, the maximum range of the Malva self-propelled howitzer he should reach 24.5 km (15 miles).
