Sports authorities in 35 countries, including Romania, have signed a second statement on Russia’s war against Ukraine and international sports.

“”Russia’s provocative and unjustified war of choice against Ukraine, promoted by the Belarusian government, is abominable and a serious breach of its international obligations. Respect for human rights and peaceful relations between nations form the basis of international sports,“The signer says.

“We reaffirm as a collection of like-minded nations. March 8 statement And while acknowledging the autonomy of sports organizations, he further states the position of the government as follows.

  • Russian and Belarus sports national sports agencies should be suspended from the Global Association of International Sports Federations.
  • Individuals working closely with the states of Russia and Belarus, including but not limited to government officials, should be excluded from their position of influencing the Global Association of International Sports Federations such as the Board of Directors and the Organizing Committee.
  • National and international sports organizations should consider stopping the broadcast of sports competitions to Russia and Belarus.

If national and international sports organizations and other event organizers choose to allow Russian and Belarusian athletes (including athletes, officers and managers) to participate in sporting events:

  • It should be clear that they do not represent the nations of Russia or Belarus.
  • The use of official Russian and Belarusian flags, emblems and national anthems should be banned.
  • Appropriate measures must be taken to ensure that the public statements and symbols made by the athletes, officers and managers involved at the sporting event are consistent with this approach.

We take these principles into account in all the League of Nations, praise all those who have already taken action and encourage national sports organizations to work with the League of Nations to do so. These restrictions should be enforced until cooperation under the rule-based international order is possible again.

In addition, we reiterate our encouragement for the international sports community to continue to show solidarity with the Ukrainian people, including supporting the continuation and reconstruction of Ukrainian sports as much as possible. ” ..
