Santorini surpasses Greek regional airports in traffic growth

Overall, Greece’s 14 largest regional airports saw an 11.1% increase in arrivals in July compared to the same month in 2019, the last year before the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, with 5.9 million passengers, but the increase was unevenly distributed, with arrivals still later than in 2019 at four of those airports.

The biggest gains were in Santorini (36.2%), Chania and Corfu, with about 21% each, Mykonos (16.6%) and Rhodes (10.4%).

Meanwhile, arrivals at Thessaloniki, Greece’s second-largest airport after Athens, fell 9.6% from 2019. Airports with fewer arrivals than in 2019 include Mytilene (-13.3%), Kavala (-12.8%) and Skiathos (-6.8%).
