Saudi Arabian students increase medal count for kingdom after winning IOI 2022

Yogyakarta — Saudi student Abdulaziz Al-Shibri increased his kingdom’s medal tally after winning the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI 2022).

Al-Shibli, who is studying in the third grade of secondary school at the Riyadh Education Authority, won a bronze medal out of 349 students at the 34th edition of IOI 2022.

Al-Shibili’s success lifted Saudi Arabia’s medal tally to three bronze medals in its fourth participation in the IOI competition.

Currently, the International Information Olympiad is being held in Indonesia with 89 countries participating.

Dr. Amal Al-Hazaa, deputy secretary-general of King Abdulaziz and his associates Talent and Creativity Foundation (Mawhiba), said this national achievement achieved by Al-Sibiri was achieved through the leadership’s support to the youth. It is said that it was done. Moreover, this was the result of a consolidation of efforts between Mawiba and the Ministry of Education.
