Saudi-led coalition accuses Iran and Hezbollah of supporting the Yemeni Houthi

The allegations follow a coalition-enhanced airstrike campaign against the Houthi in retaliation for the recent deadly attacks on the kingdom.

The Saudi-led coalition accused Iran and Hezbollah of helping the Yemeni Houthis launch missiles and drones in a kingdom where they died.

Coalition spokesman Turki al-Mariki said at a press conference on Sunday that the Houthi “militized” Sana’a Airport and used it as a “main center for launching ballistic missiles and drones” towards the kingdom. Said that.

Marqui showed reporters a video clip depicting “the headquarters of Iran and Hezbollah experts at the airport,” claiming that “Hezbollah is training the Houthi to use booby traps and drones.”

Maliki also identified other clips of Hezbollah members placing explosives on their drones, as well as Hezbollah officials who told the Houthi members that they “must strengthen their ranks.” Showed a man.

The footage could not be verified individually.

Tehran has denied the charges. Hezbollah, a Shiite movement backed by Iran in Lebanon, had previously denied sending fighters and weapons to Yemen.

“The international community must stop the hostilities of this terrorist organization,” Marqui said. This is a reference to Hezbollah.

Since January 2018, the Houthi has launched 430 ballistic missiles and 850 drones towards Saudi Arabia, he said.

Malki also accused the Iranian ambassador to Sana’a, who died last week in Covid-19 after evacuation from Yemen, as “leading a plan for a military operation in Malibu,” the last base in the northern part of the Yemeni government.

On Sunday night, the coalition announced that it had made a new strike near the Air Force Academy in Sana’a to prevent the weapons from being moved.

Earlier that day, the coalition said it had attacked the Houthi rebel camp in Sana’a and destroyed its weapons warehouse.

On Saturday, the coalition launched a so-called “massive” military operation against the Houthi after a rebel missile attack on Jazan.

The attack killed three civilians, including children and women, Yemeni medical officials told Agence France-Presse.

Rights groups have criticized a coalition for civilian casualties in years of airstrikes.

The coalition maintains that its activities are carried out in accordance with international humanitarian law and repeatedly urges the Houthi to use civilians as human shields.

In a statement, the Houthi warned, “We will face escalation with escalation.”

Since the coalition intervened almost seven years ago to support the Yemeni government, Saudi Arabia has regularly accused Iran of supplying weapons to the Houthi and Hezbollah training fighters.
