Sparebanken Sør’s three customers were nearly robbed of 600,000 kroner after a scammer was fooled by the phone number waiting on the other side to make a call.

A fraudulent attempt that appears to have targeted 52 bank customers sent an SMS asking the account owner to contact the bank with a special 800 number. The message received by the bank customer was that there was a fake activity in his account.

This attack is different from previous attempts to send thousands of text messages to fool as many people as possible.

The people who called the number contacted a woman who was supposed to “help” them stop the scam. I was asked to provide my personal information, BankID and password.

“Thus, the scammers got everything they needed to log in to an online bank. The account was emptied while the woman was talking to” help “the customer. – Includes everything that may be available on a flexible loan, “said Sparebanken Sør Security Chief Åsmund Myklevoll.

However, up to 23 minutes after the call, the bank customer felt sick and called the bank’s customer center. The center managed to stop sending money. Telenor has blocked 800 numbers.
