Second major earthquake in 24 hours rocks Kern County, with a magnitude 4.4 earthquake hitting near Grapevine on Wednesday – Orange County Register
A magnitude 4.4 earthquake struck Kern County on Wednesday evening, the day after a magnitude 5.2 earthquake and a series of aftershocks in the surrounding area, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
The earthquake struck at 7:09 p.m., about 13 miles northwest of Grapevine and southwest of Bakersfield, and was followed by three smaller aftershocks.
The quake is believed to be an aftershock of a magnitude 5.2 earthquake that occurred on Tuesday, according to the California Institute of Technology's Seismological Laboratory.
Wednesday's quake was felt from the Antelope Valley to South Los Angeles. There were no immediate reports of damage.
