Six states were worst hit by Covid’s major concerns about India

New Delhi: Over the past week, six states, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Delhi, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka, have reported a significant surge in active Covid cases along with daily Covid cases. These states have reported over 10,000 active cases, which is a major concern.

According to health ministry data, there were 15,179 active cases in Maharashtra seven days ago, an increase to 70,005 as of January 5. The number of active cases increased from 7,457 in West Bengal to 25,475 in just seven days. There are currently 20,877 active cases in Kerala.

The national capital, Delhi, reported diverse growth of active cases from 1,612 to 14,889 last week. The number of active cases in Karnataka has almost doubled from 7,485 to 13,561 and the number in Tamil Nadu has almost doubled from 6,537 to 12,412.

The Ministry of Health reports that six states reported more than 10,000 active cases, two states had 5,000 to 10,000 active cases as of January 5, and 28 states. I have less than 5,000 active cases.

“Maharashtra, West Bengal, Delhi, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Jharkhand and Gujarat are states of concern for an increasing number of Covid cases. Of the 28 districts that report a positive rate of 10% or more each week, there are 8 in Mizoram and 6 in West Bengal. There is one district each in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Punjab, with a weekly positive rate of over 10%. A total of 43 districts report a positive rate of 5-10 percent per week, according to health ministry data.

In total, India reports a more than 6.3-fold increase in daily Covid cases over the last eight days. According to the ministry, a sharp rise in positive rates was observed from 0.79 percent on December 29 to 5.03 percent on January 5.

India recorded a total of 90,928 new cases in 24 hours on Thursday, resulting in a significant increase in daily Covid infections. With 325 new deaths, the total death toll has increased to 4,82,876. The active case load jumped to 2,85,401, which makes up 0.81 percent of the country’s positive cases.

The count for Omicron infections in India also rose to 2,630. However, of the total, 995 were discharged. To date, a total of 26 states have reported Omicron infections.
