A man in his 40s was convicted by the Sogun Ofiyorane District Court for installing an eavesdropping device at his former partner’s home.

Eavesdropping took place in January last year, according to a district court ruling.

The man admitted that he had placed equipment in the cupboard of his former co-resident’s house and was treated as a so-called confession case.

The court found that eavesdropping exacerbated that it was intended to capture conversations not only with former co-residents, but with others who stayed at the location.

“This law came from a former co-resident’s house and is a place where you should feel safe,” said the district court.

The man was sentenced to 60 days in prison. He was also fined 50,000 kroner for drunk driving and was stripped of his driver’s license for two years.
