Sri Lanka expands port operations

COLOMBO (News 1st) – Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation Nimal Siripala de Silva has instructed parliamentary officials to expand the operations of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority and other agencies under the ministry to increase efficiency .

Like many countries in the world, Sri Lanka already has women working as crane operators in ports, the minister said, and steps will be taken to recruit more in the future.

The Minister said the above at the first meeting of the Ministerial Advisory Committee on Ports, Shipping and Aviation on Tuesday (20th).

The committee also agreed to regulations under civil aviation that will be submitted to Congress for approval on the 22nd.

Its purpose is to correct a printing error in the Civil Aviation Service (Issue of Licenses to Personnel and Training Agencies) orders issued by the Extraordinary Gazette.
