Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (AP) is optimistic about the possibility of finding solutions to the current NATO membership challenges facing Sweden and Finland at the NATO Summit in Madrid this week.
“I think there may be solutions related to the summit,” Støre told newspaper VG.
Beside the summit, Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Anderson and Finnish President Sauli Niinistö meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and persuade him to join the defense alliance. Erdogan presented a list of requirements.
Store, who recently spoke with Anderson and Niinistö, is optimistic.
“I think it’s possible to find a solution. These are high-level talks between Sweden, Finland, Turkey and NATO. We know more people are involved at the summit. Getting started is used as an opportunity to find a solution, “Støre said.
