Suspicious discovery was not a bomb – Berlin.de

Work originally scheduled for Saturday by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service was canceled by police due to a suspected World War II bomb at Adlershof.

Contrary to previous allegations, the suspected object was not a World War II bomb, as Berlin police announced on Twitter on Friday night. It has been decided. Surgery scheduled for Saturday was canceled and residents did not have to prepare to evacuate, it said.

No need to evacuate

On Wednesday, an object that investigators initially believed to be a World War II bomb was found by electromagnetic probes in the basement of a former industrial site in Glienikker Weg, police said. But it still had to be found, so until Saturday morning a decision would be made whether the alleged bomb should be detonated or dismantled, and whether evacuation would be required within the 500m exclusion zone. It was not.
