Swiss restaurant fines those who do not finish their meal
An Indian restaurant in Baden, Aargau, Switzerland, threatens not to finish the dishes fine. Le Matin reports that the system has been in place for two years.
To reduce food waste Casanova Restaurant We have come up with a system of fines of CHF 5 for unfinished plates. Wasted food is especially problematic in restaurant buffets. Diner with larger eyes than the stomach loads more food into the plate than can be eaten, and the inedible portion is finally put in the trash can. Restaurant boss Sulman Gauri explained that customers regularly leave their dishes on to taste different dishes.
The CHF5 franc fine has been in place for two years. Ghauri says 90% of customers approve the system. But the restaurant has never forced anyone to pay a fine. Instead, they act as warnings. However, Gauri says he is ready to fine those who ignore the warning.
