Telangana reports four more cases of Omicron

Hyderabad: Telangana reported four new cases of Omicron on Tuesday, bringing the state’s tally to 24, said the chief health official.

According to Dr. G. Srinivasa Rao, Director of Public Health, the results of a genome sequencing test of 13 samples are awaited.
The total number of Omicron cases on leaflets from countries other than “at risk” has increased to 19. Only four cases were reported among passengers from “endangered” countries.
Since December 1, a total of 9,122 passengers from 10 “endangered” countries have arrived at Hyderabad Airport. Of these, 726 arrived on Tuesday. The four who arrived on Tuesday were Covid positive.
Health authorities at Hyderabad Airport are conducting RT-PCR testing on 2% of passengers from countries other than “at risk” countries. According to the Center’s guidelines, they are allowed to go home even if they test for Covid positivity. However, those samples are being sent for genomic sequencing. If they test for Omicron positivity, authorities are tracking them based on the address provided upon arrival at the airport.
Meanwhile, 172 new Covid cases were reported in the state on Tuesday, bringing the cumulative total to 6,79,892.
A total of 188 cases have recovered in the last 24 hours, with a recovery rate of 98.87%. Health officials said 3,625 cases were being treated / quarantined.
