Solo exhibition of Christos Kyriakides “The Cave/Two Wooden Doors” will be held at Gallery Koma. “The pieces assembled for ‘The Cave/Two Wooden Doors’ are from the long walks under the yellow flames of street lamps, the blue and orange hues that illuminate beaches and shores, and the incandescent warmth of family homes. Seen through the eyes of Parallax, the collected material has been stripped and modified.Affirming what was lurking in it, Kyriakides castrates his work without emotion. and breathe new life into it.”
Christos Kyriaakides is a visual artist, curator and poet. His practice is concerned with architecture and contested landscapes, collecting ideas about youth culture and identity and iconography. The logic of defiance and exclusion underpins his practice, reconstructing meaning from the bottom up with sculptural installations and embroidery. His work initiates his loop of feedback on sexual and geopolitical intimacy, and is further influenced by the idiosyncrasies of queer subjectivity.
