The court returns the case of Bečva poisoning to the prosecutor because of many shortcomings

The district court in Vsetín returned the 2020 Bečva river poisoning case to the prosecutor and asked for further investigation. The Supreme Court said the evidence presented had considerable drawbacks. The case is returned to a state lawyer and then to a police investigator.

Education Minister Petr Gazdik, a former member of the parliamentary investigative commission that dealt with the case, was the culprit at the Vuseteen police and public prosecutor’s office in response to a court decision. The 2020 leak of cyanide into the Bečva River killed all organisms along 40 km of the river, including over 32,000 tonnes of fish.
