The heat alert was extended until midnight on Monday

The Chief Medical Officer has issued a heat alert in Hungary from Monday to midnight the following Monday.

National health and disaster management officials said in a statement that infants, the elderly and people with cardiovascular disease need to take special precautions.

Heat Alerts come with advice on how to drink a lot, avoid the sun from 11am to 3pm, and protect your skin.

The Meteorological Bureau said on Facebook that the cold front is expected to arrive late Friday, but the impact will only be felt in western Hungary.
