The Northeast Tuna season begins with the first Blue Fins selling for NT $ 1.8 million or more – Taiwan English News

This year, the first bluefin tuna caught on the northeastern coast of Taiwan were auctioned at the southern port of Su’ao Port, Yilan County, on the morning of April 21, for a total price of NT $ 1,897 million.

The 271 kilograms of fish opened with a bid of NT $ 5,600 per kilogram and was eventually sold to the Taipei restaurant Sando House for NT $ 7,000 per kilogram. Prices were well below NT $ 8,600 per kilogram paid for the first catch last year, also purchased by Sandhouse.

Lin Zi-miao, Mayor of Yilan County, presided over the auction via video.

The first tuna to be auctioned was one of the two caught by Su’ao fishing vessels. Yushunji No.66 April 18th. Yushunji No.66Don Kunsian said he was the first to catch the first tuna of the season in more than 30 years of fishing.
