Due to the country’s social and political unrest, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises on all trips to Sri Lanka that are not strictly necessary.

Sri Lanka faces a difficult economic crisis due to soaring food prices, frequent power outages and fuel shortages.

“The situation is volatile and unpredictable, and authorities have introduced a state of emergency and a curfew nationwide. Intense demonstrations are taking place in some parts of the country. The Colombo embassy said. Opportunities to support Norwegians in the country are limited, “the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote on Wednesday.

They encourage Norwegians already in the country to carefully track the situation.
