Riyadh — The Saudi Arabia national football team will play a friendly here on Wednesday against World Cup runners-up Croatia.

The Green Falcons continued training at their Riyadh camp on Monday as part of the fourth and final phase of their preparation program for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which kicks off on 20 November.

During previous practice sessions in Abu Dhabi, the team played five friendly matches against teams from Macedonia, Albania, Honduras, Iceland and Panama.

The national team players continued training at the Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium under the supervision of coach Herve Leonard. Beginning with warm-up and passing practice, we were divided into two groups and ended with stretching. The Green Falcons will be ready and open to the media for a 1:00 PM training session on Tuesday.

Leonard announced Friday the 26-man squad for the Green Falcons for the World Cup. Of the 10 players who were part of the squad that played in the 2018 Russia World Cup, 16 are first-timers. Midfielder Salman Al-Faraj is the captain. Leonard left six of his players out of the final squad.

Members of the final team resumed training at their camp in Riyadh on Sunday after a 48-hour break following a preparatory camp in Abu Dhabi. The Abu Dhabi camp ran from 17 October to 10 November as part of the third phase of the World Cup preparation programme.
