The Senate discussed the issue on Tuesday (April 26, 2022), but has not yet passed the resolution, according to spokeswoman Lisa Frelix. There are still unresolved questions to be clarified, which was said in justification. Perhaps this topic will be on the agenda again next Tuesday. Ulrike Gote (Green Party), a Berlin health senator, said at a meeting in the House of Representatives on Monday that the quarantine period would be shortened this week. She said other federal states would like to implement this shortening by the beginning of May.
Reduced quarantine period to 5 days
In the future, according to current plans, infected individuals will only need to remain quarantined for 5 days if they are asymptomatic for 48 hours. If there are no symptoms after 5 days, you should remain isolated for a corresponding period of time. So far, quarantine for 7 to 10 days has been stipulated based on various standards. However, the question of whether the corona test is a prerequisite for ending quarantine is now controversial, as reported. The Health Ministers’ Meeting will discuss this issue on Thursday.
Nursing home visitors no longer need a corona test
However, the Senate decided on Tuesday to change one of the few remaining coronavirus rules. Visitors to nursing homes will no longer need to be tested for corona if vaccinated or recovered. Instead, each visitor should wear an FFP2 mask. Previously, a simpler surgical mask was sufficient.
