Three Seas Initiative: President Novak Expresses Support for Peaceful Resolution of War in Ukraine

President Catalin Novak, speaking at the Three Seas Summit in Riga on Monday, expressed his support for the peaceful resolution of the war in Ukraine and promoted Hungary’s economic interests.

Novak said on Facebook that the Three Seas Initiative was launched in 2015 to promote Europe’s North-South infrastructure axis to complement existing East-West infrastructure.

At the Riga Summit of the Presidents of 12 countries, she emphasized the issue of “important to Hungary and the people of Hungary”.

Novak argued that, as with efforts to establish peace in Ukraine, when it comes to energy supply, the interests of countries with no direct access to the sea must be taken into account.

“We support Ukraine’s accession to the European Union and the Western Balkans as quickly as possible,” he said.

Presidents of Germany, Poland, Austria, Slovenia, Lithuania, Estonia, Romania and Bulgaria also attended the summit with the Prime Minister of Croatia, the Czech Senator, and the President of Ukraine through Videolink.
