Thunderstorms Over 50mm Expected – Met Dept

Colombo (News 1st) – The Meteorological Department has said showers or thunderstorms will hit the western, Sabaragamuwa, central, northwestern and northern provinces as well as Galle and Matara districts on Saturday (22nd).

Therefore, heavy rainfall exceeding 50mm is expected in some places.

Showers and thunderstorms will hit several palaces and Hambantota districts in Eastern and Uva provinces in the afternoon or evening.

In order to minimize the damage caused by temporary strong winds and lightning strikes during thunderstorms, the general public is also requested to take sufficient precautions.
