TotalEnergies’ Awari Exploration Well Failed Offshore Suriname Delivery

Oil and gas company TotalEnergies has completed drilling the Awari exploration well offshore Suriname without encountering commercial hydrocarbon volumes.

The news was shared Monday by TotalEnergies partner APA Corporation. at block 58where the well was dug.

APA holds 50% of the operating rights and TotalEnergies is the block operator with 50% of the operating rights.

“Drilling operations have concluded at the previously untested Awari exploration prospect in the northwest of Block 58. The well was deemed non-commercial,” the APA said.

At the Sapakara South-2 (SPS-2) appraisal well, the joint venture will begin flow testing operations following drilling into the targeted Maastrichtian-Campanian Formation. Results are expected next month.

SPS-2 is located about 4.6 kilometers to the south. Sapacala South-1.
