TotalEnergies Books Stena Drilling’s Semi-sub for

French oil giant TotalEnergies has chartered Stena Drilling’s Stena Spey semi-submersible drilling rig for drilling operations on British Continental shelves.

Stena Drilling said the mobile offshore drilling unit will begin contracts between March 16, 2022 and April 15, 2022. The estimated total scope period is 120 days. No financial details were shared on the contract.

According to MarineTraffic, Stena Spey is currently moored at Scapa Flow in the Orkney Islands, Scotland.

The rig was used by PSE Kinsale Energy in Ireland last year. For a decommissioning campaign in Kinsale Field off the coast of Ireland.

The rig was built in 1983 by Daewoo, South Korea. Stena Spey is a Friede & Goldman L907 (extended pacesetter) twin pontoon, column stabilized, self-propelled, semi-submersible offshore drilling unit. Since launching the service in 1983, the rig has undergone several upgrades.
