Turkeyye – Middle East Monitor, Qatar’s agency to build residential villages in northern Syria for refugees

Turkish and Qatar agencies signed a contract on Thursday to build a residential village with a capacity of 1,000 units in northern Syria. Anadolu Agency Report.

An agreement to build a village in the Al Bab region for Syrian refugees was reached by the Qatar Red New Moon Company in Doha, the capital of Qatar, and the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) of Turkey.

The head of the agency has signed a deal worth $ 3.5 million

Each village has units sized 50 square meters (164 square feet).

The area where the houses are built includes mosques, schools, healthcare centers and shops.

Yunus Sezel, head of the Turkish agency, said: Anadolu Agency Its purpose is to improve the living conditions of refugee Syrians currently living in tents.

He referred to “great cooperation” between Turkey and Qatar as part of humanitarian efforts in Syria, noting that Doha also plays an important role in supporting Syrian refugees.

Syria has been trapped in a vicious civil war since early 2011, when the government cracked down on anti-democratic movements.

Since then, the United Nations estimates that hundreds of thousands have died and more than 10 million have been displaced.
