Two Other Suspicious Cases of Classical Swine Fever in Rome-English

(ANSA)-May 9, Rome-In Rome, the same area as the first incident last week, two other cases suspected of classical swine fever were found, sources said Monday.

The latest case was detected in Insgerata Park, according to the Lazio Department of Health.

The Italian capital has begun to set up nets for wild boars, which have become more and more troublesome in recent months and years.

Authorities said an anti-classical swine fever program was underway.

Andrea Costa of the Ministry of Health said wild boar culling is “no longer postponed” because of the way animals are “increasingly invading our city and the space around it.”

The Roman case is the first case outside the region where it first occurred in Liguria and Piedmont. (ANSA).
