The United States said last week that there was “substantial progress” during negotiations in Vienna to save Iran’s nuclear deal, and if Iran “shows seriousness” on the matter, it will agree within a few days. Is considered possible.

“If Iran shows seriousness, it can and should be understood to reciprocally return to full implementation of JCPOA within a few days,” a State Department spokesman said Thursday. Spoken using the acronym for 2015 trading.

But “what goes far beyond that will offer the possibility of returning to trading at significant risk,” a spokesman added.

The Vienna talks, which involve Iran, the United Kingdom, China, France, Germany and Russia directly and indirectly with the United States, resumed in late November with the aim of regaining the 2015 agreement.

The agreement provided relief for Tehran sanctions in exchange for curbing nuclear development programs, but the United States unilaterally withdrew under former President Donald Trump in 2018, imposing heavy economic sanctions, and Iran I urged him to start rolling back that promise.

“Get closer to an agreement than ever before”

Some experts say that Iran is only a few weeks away from getting enough fissile material to make nuclear weapons, even if it takes more complicated steps to make a real bomb. ..

President Joe Biden said he was ready to return to the agreement and ease some of the US sanctions, provided Tehran resumes its promises under the agreement.

France warned Iran on Wednesday that it would run out of time to accept the New Deal. Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian added that it was a “daily problem” and that without an agreement, a major crisis would be unleashed.

But earlier that day, Iran’s supreme negotiator Ali Bergery said, “We are closer to an agreement than ever before.”

He asked the other parties to be “realistic” and to make “serious decisions.”

Tehran also called on Congress to say that Washington would commit if an agreement was reached in Vienna.

Iranian officials said in 2018 they wanted a “guarantee” that the deal would be implemented as the possibility of a political change in the United States again questioned it.
