Abu Dhabi: The United Arab Emirates has announced a travel ban for citizens who have not been vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine since January 10 due to the need to obtain a fully vaccinated booster dose.
“After January 10, 2022, it is necessary to obtain a fully vaccinated booster dose, banning the travel of UAE citizens who are not vaccinated with the # Covid19 vaccine,” said the national emergency crisis and disaster management. The station (NCEMA) said in a tweet on Saturday.
However, authorities say it does not apply to people who are medically exempt from taking the vaccine, humanitarian and therapeutic cases.
This is because the Omicron variant of COVID-19 has mobilized infections in many countries, resulting in a surge in hospitalizations in the United States and Europe.
Massive spread of the virus, proliferation of infections, and hospitalization also led to the cancellation of numerous flights as the fear of the spread of Omicron increased.
