WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – Artificial intelligence (AI) could pose a greater threat to world peace and human survival than nuclear weapons in the coming decades, absent an international agreement on how to regulate and limit artificial intelligence (AI). Rep. Seth Moulton, D-MA, said.

Moulton, who co-chaired the Defense Futures Task Force, said Tuesday during an event at the Hudson Institute.

“AI weapons could rule the world in 50 to 100 years. It’s not some crazy sci-fi scenario,” Moulton said. “I would argue that AI systems are even more dangerous than nuclear weapons.”

AI systems and machine learning are dangerously unpredictable and unimaginably powerful, but they cannot be banned, suppressed, or ignored because they are the future of war. Service Commission said.

“Establishing rules for the use of AI in the development of ethical frameworks is a national security imperative…Computers always win against AI. It flies well…In simulations, even with the best F-16 pilots going up against the AI, the computer always wins,” Moulton said.

AI is the future of warfare, Moulton added, and the US is starting to lag behind in AI development.
