A White House doctor said Biden “has not experienced a flare-up of symptoms and continues to feel very well.”

US President Joe Biden has tested positive for COVID-19. Authorized to end coronavirus isolationthe White House said it was a rare case of “rebound” after treatment with antiviral drugs.

White House physician Dr. Kevin O’Connor said in a letter Saturday that Biden “has not experienced a flare-up of symptoms and continues to feel very well.”

O’Connor said Biden tested positive nine days ago and twice negative earlier this week, but plans to resume isolation procedures and his positive tests will be experienced by some COVID patients. It is believed to be a “rebound” positive.

Biden tweeted about his positive test, saying it could happen to “a very small number of people.”

“I have no symptoms but will be quarantined for the safety of everyone around me. I am still working and will be back on tour soon,” he tweeted.

According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, Biden will be quarantined for at least five days.

The agency says most rebound cases remain mild and no serious illness has been reported during that period.

Biden, 79, first tested positive on July 21 and was then treated with the antiviral drug Paxlovid. He tested negative for the virus on his 26th July and his 27th.

His positive test puts him among the few people prescribed drugs to experience rebound cases of the virus.

Dr. Ashish Jha, the White House COVID-19 coordinator, told reporters on Monday that the data “suggest that between 5 and 8 percent of people rebounded” after Paxlovid treatment.
