A helicopter airlifted an 18-year-old woman to safety after her car plunged off the Pacific Coast Highway into the ocean, California video shows.
The crash took place at 1:10 p.m. Friday, June 9, on the coastal highway near Neptune’s Net in Ventura County, the California Highway Patrol told the Ventura County Star.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, KTLA reported.
The Ojai woman driving the Mercedes-Benz was able to climb out of the car and get on the roof to await rescue, the Ventura County Star said.
Video posted to Instagram by the Ventura County Aviation Unit shows a helicopter hoisting the woman from the ocean below to safety.
She was flown to a medical center for treatment, the Instagram post said.
“Unsafe conditions” prevented authorities from immediately recovering the car, the Los Angeles Times reported..
