A major incident occurred when a Carnival Magic cruise ship returned to New York from an eight-day excursion anchored on a private island in the Dominican Republic, Turks and Caicos Islands, and the Bahamas.
Authorities first learned of the incident around 5:21 am local time, according to the NYPD.
Guards on board reportedly called the Coast Guard after trying to escalate the brawl of 40 to 60 people. Many reports suggest that disagreements are due to 3P, which allegedly occurred during the 8-day excursion.
“The Coast Guard escorted the cruise ship to Pier 88, which is within the MTN area.” Read the NYPD statement. “Unified personnel and transportation agents met the ship and the ship dropped passengers without further accidents.”
The Coast Guard confirmed the escort in a statement to PEOPLE, noting that it was called an hour before the New York Police Department.
The footage of the incident then flowed into social media, showing that dozens of individuals are fighting and trying to disperse many conflicts.
Please note that the following footage can be offensive to some viewers.
The carnival claimed that early morning docking at Pier 88 in New York was planned. This is the opposite of the NYPD’s first report of emergency docking.
“When Carnival Magic returned to New York last night, many guests were involved in a nightclub quarrel. Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported and the in-flight security team intervened.” Please read the company statement.
“The ship arrived on time this morning, was notified by coastal law enforcement authorities, interviewed suspects and witnesses, and met the ship to conduct an investigation.”
The jurisdiction of the case was questioned because the ship was on the high seas near both New Jersey and New York.
