Vodafone fined for confusing messages targeting seniors – Japanese

(ANSA) – ROME, November 28 – Italian privacy authorities on Monday fined Vodafone Italia 500,000 euros for providing misleading information in soliciting new customers, especially the elderly.

The fine stems from a complaint filed after a woman in her 80s contacted a call center, changed operators unwillingly, and switched to Vodafone.

In addition to the fine, Vodafone was told to stop making unnecessary sales calls and providing misleading information to get people to change their contracts, and to manage the call centers it uses more carefully. (ANSA).
