We live in the slopiest town in the UK, but it’s not as bad as people say

A resident of Britain’s “sloppiest town” counters negative reviews by saying it’s not as bad as people say.
Chatham, Kent has been the subject of a string of scathing reviews dubbed ‘Home of Chubb’.
It has been labeled as ‘the worst place in the UK for exercise enthusiasts’, among harsh criticisms, and a Forbes study found that residents were more likely to walk or cycle than elsewhere in the country. was found to be the lowest.
The fitness index was 14 out of 100, the lowest of any town or city.
Some locals admit the town is a “s***hole” where drinking is the only way to exercise.
Others raised safety concerns but advised people to avoid the area en masse.

But now, the community has reportedly come together to brush off the town’s dark opinion once and for all.
Becca Hawe, 28, mum of one from Rainham, said: kent online: “It’s not as bad as people think.
“It’s really not worth it. I used to live on the High Street and work here. We never had that many problems.”
“It’s really quiet. There are weird people, but it’s not bad.”
Carol Hughes, 65, who lives in nearby Gillingham, said she felt a lot of criticism was directed at the area because of the actions taken by the local council.
A local resident said last week daily star The boulevard “became a rotten bottom” and was filled with drug dealers.
Another resident called Femi, from Nigeria, who had recently moved to the area, described it as “very rough.”
However, giving her verdict, Carol said:
“What to do? I don’t know. Some people just make it worse and the store opens and closes every five minutes.
“It requires a lot of money.”
Elsewhere, lifelong resident Cllr Harinder Mahil slammed Forbes’ scourge for “attacking” his town.
“As for the accusation of being ‘sloppy’, it’s just utter bullshit,” he said.
“It’s just a vague, unquantifiable word you use to attack someone without giving them a clear way to refute it.”
Nucleus Art Program Chief Executive David Stokes described Chatham as “a wonderful place to live.”

“Yes, like many areas in trouble, high street declines are common across the country, and this has been accelerated by the pandemic, but it’s not uncommon.
“Chatham has a lot to do.”
