Engineering consultancy Wood Thilsted has been appointed as the detail engineer for US Wind’s MarWin project. This is the company’s first offshore wind project to be built off the coast of Maryland, USA.
Wood Thilsted will be responsible for providing detailed foundation designs for MarWin, supporting the development of US Wind’s second offshore wind project, Momentum Wind, and providing other technical support required by US Wind. .
Wood Thilsted also assisted US Wind in the development of its monopile production facility, Sparrows Point Steel, providing technical specifications, code and standard application, and general engineering support for facility design.
As part of MarWin’s detailed design, Wood Thilsted worked with US Wind to maximize local manufacturing of secondary steel for internal and external platforms, boat landings, ladders, walkways, etc. The company says it will bring in offshore wind jobs. .
