Workers hope to finish clearing dead fish from the Dyje River by the end of Thursday

The remaining dead fish still floating on the Dije River in the Breclav region on Wednesday will need to be caught from the water by Thursday evening, according to a report by the Czech news agency. Last week, dozens of tonnes of fish were found dead in the river due to lack of oxygen caused by an excess of cyanobacteria. Fishermen also blamed the Novomulin Reservoir power plant. The Novomulin Reservoir shut down on Sunday morning after the second dead fish was found.

By Tuesday evening, fishermen and firefighters had already carried 40 tonnes of dead fish out of the river and were able to clean the section from the Novomulin Reservoir. Due to the long time since death, some small fish are already in the process of decomposition.
