(BCN) — A neighborhood group will maintain a rally Tuesday calling on Alameda County supervisors to halt the $80 million growth of the Santa Rita Jail.
Restore Oakland stated in a press release Saturday that it’ll maintain a funeral procession from the Rene C. Davidson Courthouse to the Alameda County Administration Constructing beginning 3 p.m. of Nov. 28, to attract consideration to its demand.
The growth venture would add about 38,000 sq. ft in psychological well being amenities to the present lockup.
“Why are we conflating care with incarceration?” Pleasure George of Restore Oakland stated in a press launch. “We’re past fixing Santa Rita; we must be targeted on getting individuals out, retaining them out, and investing of their wellbeing.”
