Raanan’s 17-year-old sister, Natali Raanan, and his step-mother, Judith Tai Raanan, each from Evanston, Illinois, had been visiting family and celebrating vacation in Israel in Nahal Oz, close to Gaza, when the assaults started earlier this month.
