A Powerball participant secures a staggering $1.3 billion jackpot win

A Powerball ticket purchased in Oregon has struck gold, securing a remarkable jackpot exceeding $1.3 billion, ranking as the eighth largest in the annals of U.S. lottery history. The thrilling draw unfolded with the revelation of the winning numbers: 22, 27, 44, 52, 69, and the crucial red Powerball number 9. This marked the 41st drawing since the previous Powerball jackpot winner emerged victorious on New Year’s Day.

The fortunate winner managed to align all six double-digit numbers correctly on a mere $2 ticket, a feat with odds stacked at a staggering one in 292.2 million. Consequently, the jackpot swelled through multiple rollovers, elevating its magnitude with each passing draw.

Originally slated for 11 p.m. EDT on Saturday (0300 GMT on Sunday), the lottery drawing experienced a slight delay to facilitate the requisite procedures before unveiling the winning numbers. The substantial prize, valued at approximately $1.3 billion, offers two options for the recipient: a lump-sum payment of approximately $608.9 million or an initial installment followed by 29 annual payments.

Powerball tickets are available for purchase across 45 states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico, extending the lottery’s reach far and wide across the nation.
